MORE THAN WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND
Legacy planning connects your financial decisions with your wishes. We start with your own security, then explore what you would like your wealth to make possible for others.
Understand the resources you may need for retirement, changing circumstances and later-life costs before deciding what you can afford to pass on.
Consider gifts during your lifetime and the inheritance you hope to leave, taking account of different needs and the practical consequences of each choice.
Bring your financial arrangements into line with your wishes for family and loved ones. Where charitable giving matters to you, we can include that too.
A PLAN THAT STARTS WITH YOU
It might be helping a child buy a home, supporting a grandchild’s education or leaving a gift to a cause close to your heart. The starting point is your intention.
Talk through your prioritiesDiscuss your family, income, property, savings, pensions and existing plans—alongside what you want your money to do.
Consider affordability, tax, access to money and the people affected. Identify where legal or specialist input is needed.
Agree the next steps and how your arrangements should be reviewed as your circumstances and the rules change.
BRINGING THE PIECES TOGETHER
A useful plan looks beyond a single tax bill or document. We’ll help you understand how the different parts fit together.
Review how your wealth is held and the potential tax implications of passing it on. Any planning needs to suit your circumstances; tax savings are not guaranteed.
Explore estate planningThink through what you could give, when to give it and how to keep your own finances resilient. A gift can reduce the money you have available later.
We can prepare wills and powers of attorney in-house, helping you bring your wishes and financial plans together. Complex wills and trusts require solicitor involvement; we’ll explain any separate arrangements and charges.
Read about willsReview who you would like to benefit and how your arrangements work together. Pension death benefits depend on the scheme and the rules applying at the time.
Estate planning, tax advice, wills and trusts are not regulated by the FCA. We’ll explain the scope of the proposed service and any separate specialist arrangements before you proceed.
A THOUGHTFUL FIRST STEP
Bring the questions you’ve been putting off. We can start with what you know and work through the rest together.
Who would you like to provide for?Think about the people and causes that matter, and any needs you would like the plan to recognise.
What do you need for yourself?Your lifestyle, retirement plans and a reserve for the unexpected all belong in the conversation.
What is already in place?Existing wills, powers of attorney, pension nominations and records of gifts can be useful starting points.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Personal decisions deserve understandable explanations.
It brings together decisions about your wealth, your wishes and the people or causes you want to support. A plan considers your own future needs as well as gifts, inheritance, pension beneficiaries and the legal documents that record your intentions.
No. A home, savings, pensions or a business can all make planning worthwhile. Family circumstances and who you want to provide for matter too. An initial conversation helps establish the kind of support you need.
You may be able to, but first consider what you need for your own retirement, unexpected costs and possible care needs. Gifts can have tax consequences and may be difficult or impossible to reverse. Exemptions, timing and whether you retain a benefit all matter. We’ll help you consider affordability before taking action.
Not automatically. Trusts can help control how assets are managed and who benefits, but they can involve tax charges, administration and ongoing costs. The right structure depends on your aims and circumstances and requires appropriate specialist advice.
A will records how you want your estate distributed. Powers of attorney address who can make specified decisions on your behalf in the circumstances covered by the document. Their legal requirements differ across the UK. We can prepare wills and powers of attorney in-house. Complex wills and trusts require the assistance of a solicitor, alongside your financial planning.
Yes. You can consider supporting causes during your lifetime or through your will, alongside provision for your family. We’ll discuss how giving fits your financial priorities and when specialist tax or legal advice is needed.
Review it regularly and after changes such as marriage, divorce, a new child or grandchild, a bereavement, retirement or selling a business. Changes to tax rules and your finances can also affect an existing plan.
We’ll talk about what matters to you, your family circumstances and any existing arrangements. The initial consultation is complimentary. Before any paid work begins, we’ll explain the proposed service, who will provide it and the charges.
